I've just got bitten by the bugness linkinparkus and now I have the Linkin Park fever and I must do what it says and right now it tells me to promote Mike Shinoda's upcoming art show Glorious Excess (Dies) that opens on 29th of August in Los Angeles. Of birthdays, wedding aniversaries and porch openings

Firstly, ladyofsalzburg wanted to see what I'm going to give my folks for their wedding anniversary tomorrow. It's only an old photo album where I've added some new pictures, I've already promised to make them a cake and they think that's all they're getting but I wanted to give them something more. The pictures are mostly of our cats (cause they love them so much) and of the renovation my dad has been making outside which has been finished this week. Now we got a new porch, new stairs to the storage room and some other minor things. Yes I have piccies of all of that too that I'll be sharing. And yeah it's also our porch opening party tomorrow xD

Also added this between the album. I used my dad's printer and his expensive photography paper so I though I'd repay him a bit and put some money in the envelope as a peace offering lol. It reads "For dad for 'loaning' some photography paper".

Now for the other photos. Just to remind you, this is what it all looked like at the start of the summer:

There's still some tools around and boards and stuff but I can't even remember when was the last time our yard looked this clean and tidy lol! Also that concrete area used to be just sand, it was like a huge sandbox for me and my bro when we were kids.

It's really spacy and luffly :3 And has been completely hand made by my dad.

Last picca from the inner yard where our front door is (at the end there). The reason why there's so many doors around our house is that it used to be a shop sometime in the 70's.

Also it seems that 80% of the people I know have birhtdays this time of year lol. I've been working my ass off to get at least some kind of gifts done in time, though I'm still a bit behind schedule. I'm also going to a family friends daughter's birthday on Sunday and I have no idea what to give her. I think I'll just draw her something but I don't quite know what. I ahve to ask clarru for an advice, they're cousins and very close. Still all this drawing is making my fingers really hurt :(

Firstly yay for new layout :D Yes it's the same with just different colors and a header but I like the style so there lol. This one's nicer to the eyes than the last but I only put it together to show my support for Filo (did it rather hastily too). Don't know if I really like this one yet but I wanted to use my own photographs and make it calm. But I do luffs my new friends only banner though ;)) *cuddles adorable Viiru*

Most of the Pori Jazz pics were totally random so I can't be even arsed to edit them but I do rather like these two of Mellu and clarru (they're sisters by the way). I'm not usually very good at taking portairts but I think these just look lovely :)

So mum and dad finally brough our new kitties home today!! :D
They've spent the whole day exploring and sniffing every single corner of our house XD They are a bit shy still, especially the tabby one (we still haven't given them proper names yet), she doesn't let anyone even close yet. But omigosh they're both just sooooo very cute!!!! x3

That's all for now, I'm not exactly in a conditino to run around after them and take pics unfrotunately :(
Been feeling really bad all day, partly because of my own stupidity cause I took my antibiotic on an epmty stomach and since then I've been puking everything out. Which is why I haven't eaten or drank anything all day which of course isn't good at all in this heat.
Summer really isn't my season, especially if I'm sick...

And here's a little explanation for those who don't know what Lucia's day is about. Shamelessly snagged from wikipedia ;)

Saint Lucy's Day or the Feast of St. Lucy (Santa Lucia, Saint Lucia) is the Church feast day dedicated to St. Lucy and is observed on December 13. It retains traditional forms of celebration mainly in Scandinavia, parts of the United States and southern Europe. It is celebrated in Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Norway, Finland, Malta, Italy, Bosnia, Iceland, and Croatia. In the United States, people in areas of Minnesota, and other states with Scandinavian roots, continue to celebrate the holiday, often centered around church events. Before the reform of the Gregorian calendar in the 16th century, St. Lucy's Day fell close to the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

In traditional celebrations, Saint Lucy comes as a young woman with lights and sweets. It is one of the few saint days observed in Scandinavia. In some forms, a procession is headed by one girl wearing a crown of candles (or lights), while others in the procession hold only a single candle each.

Celebration in Scandinavia

In Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Norway and Finland, Lucy (called Lucia) it is venerated on December 13 in a ceremony where a girl is elected to portray Lucia. Wearing a white gown with a red sash and a crown of candles on her head, she walks at the head of a procession of women, each holding a candle. The candles symbolize the fire that refused to take St. Lucia's life when she was sentenced to be burned. The women sing a Lucia song while entering the room, to the melody of the traditional Neapolitan song Santa Lucia; the Italian lyrics describe the view from Santa Lucia in Naples, the various Scandinavian lyrics are fashioned for the occasion, describing the light with which Lucia overcomes the darkness. Each Scandinavian country has lyrics in their native tongues. After finishing this song, the procession sings Christmas carols or more songs about Lucia. A similar version occurs in Scandinavian communities and churches in the United States.

When the Scandinavian countries were Catholic, the night of Lucia was celebrated just as many other saints' days were. The tradition continued after the Protestant Reformation in the 1520s and 1530s. According to the Julian calendar[citation needed], the night of Lucia was the longest night of the year. This is likely to be the reason why the tradition has lived on in the Nordic countries in particular, as the nights in November and December are very dark and long before the snow has fallen, and the idea of light overcoming darkness is thus appealing.

Why hallo there flist! Sorry for being AWOL since Tuesday night but I needed to get out for a while, ie staying away from my computer and stuff and now I finally think I'm over the last weekend. Might ramble more about it later but now let's get down to business.

I've decided to make a kind of a Christmas calendar this year but I need your help with this. Pick up one of the prompts from the list below and a driver or a pairing (or even a small group, I'm not so picky about it really :D) and I will draw it for you and thus make a nice and cute calendar :D As said in the title everything will be chibi cause it's easier and takes less time. And for starters you can actually make two requests since I'm not so sure if I I'll get all 25 days done otherwise, just say which one is the more important one so just incase I'd actually get 25 requests (highly doubt it though xD). I'll mark the prompts that have already been taken but if I have time/energy/inspiration I can make more than one drawing for one prompt :)

Also for those in my flist that aren't into F1 (since this is going to be a F1 xmas calendar) I can draw something else too, which brings me to my other question. Does anyone want Christmas cards from me? If so then just email (samppa89@gmail.com) or lj message me your address and I'll send you one :D And if you want I can actually send the drawing too :)
